Grandma's Recipes One By One!

Todays recipe is one that Grandma got from my Aunt Susan.

Gingersnaps are a great cookie recipe for fall.


This time of year is when we like to use spices like cinnamon, cloves and ginger.

These cookies are soft, chewy and spicy.


Gingersnaps 2

You’ll notice that we have the “V Good” indicator again here!

Here is the recipe as I made it:


3/4 cup butter

1 cup white sugar

1 egg, beaten

4 Tablespoons molasses

2 cups all purpose flour, sifted

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon cloves

1 teaspoon ginger

Cream butter and sugar.

Add beaten egg and molasses.

Mix baking soda and spices with flour.

Combine with first mixture.

Roll into 1 inch balls and then roll balls in sugar.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.


Rolling the balls of dough in sugar make the traditional crackle on top of the cookies.


Your kitchen will smell cinnamon-y and ginger-y while these are baking!


These cookies are so pretty!
