Grandma's Recipes One By One!

Poppy Seed Bread

on March 3, 2014

I remember making this bread in high school.

It may be one of the first recipes I got from Grandma.

It’s another very easy, very good one.

Poppy Seed Bread

I really don’t know whether to call this a bread or a cake.

Here is the recipe as I made it:

Poppy Seed Bread

1 yellow or white cake mix (I use yellow)

1 small box of coconut instant pudding (I couldn’t find coconut so I used vanilla and added about 1/4 cup of coconut)

4 eggs

1 cup of hot water

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup poppy seeds

Combine all and beat 4 minutes.

Pour batter into 2 greased and floured bread tins.

Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.

The pudding makes it a nice, creamy batter.

It makes two full sized loaves of bread.

Is it a bread or a cake?

This bread is great to have in the freezer, ready to take out at a moment’s notice.

Yum.
